Most of my last weekend of total freedom before starting my new job was spent watching World Cup games and hanging out with friends - I couldn't ask for more!
On Saturday we went to Nate & Siobhan's to celebrate Nerys' 1st birthday. While we don't have any pictures of the actual birthday party (imagine lots of young parents and a very cute Nerys blowing out one candle on a huge fruit tart), Sohail did take pictures of the after party. He hung out with his friends from high school. I wasn't there but from what I heard it was a usual evening with them. Here are three of them trying (unsuccessfully in the end) to light a grill.
Today we got together with my friend Tim who's in town from Mexico to watch the Mexico-Argentina game.
Tim's American, lived in Argentina at the same time I did and now lives in Mexico. He was rooting for Mexico and I was for Argentina but I still felt a bit bad for Mexico about their loss. In any case, it wonderful having such a dedicated friend who always checks in when he's in DC!

Poor Mexico. I watched the beginning but had to take a nap for most of the game. I was sad when I woke up and found out they lost.
Happy Birthday to Nery and saludos a Tim!
