This weekend Sohail and I went to my college friend Deena's wedding in North Carolina. It was wonderful catching up with old friends and celebrating Deena & Chris' nuptials. Congratulations Deena and Chris and thank you for a wonderful weekend!
A daring dog!
Oddly our hotel looked a lot like the undergrad dorm where many of us who were at the wedding met for the first time over ten years ago.
Before the wedding Sohail and I visited the NC State Capitol building
It has this amazing library with old law books inside.
Sohail sported a new suit to the wedding.
This trio played throughout the ceremony and reception. The music was beautiful and the wedding very elegant.
The bridesmaids ready for the action to start.
Shirin and a groomsman
Sarah and a groomsman
Deena and her Dad
Deena and Chris as husband and wife!
The reception was held in an old house with several rooms.
It was great catching up with Gabriel and Shirin.
And Deena and Sarah
No Egyptian wedding is complete without a belly dancer!
On our way to the after party we got caught in this rain storm...
Sarah & Shirin
Friends!
Sweet Deena used these decorations that my Mom and I made together. Some of you will see them in another setting in October. ;-)
Sohail and Gabriel met for the first time on this trip and planned a joint family vacation to Japan (where they lived the same year). I'm happy to oblige!
This morning we all got together again for brunch at this cute restaurant before heading home.
Saskia, It's so much fun for me to see all of you together along with your beaus/husbands. You all will have many opportunities this year with all the gatherings. And congrats on the new job!
Saskia, what fine series of photos, they help make the viewer feel like actually experiencing the events. I am always delighted to see and hear about what Saskia is doing, I have always been in great fond of her and Shirin's and Anahita's other friends; they are all very close to my heart. By getting married to Sohail, Saskia is getting even closer, becoming my honorary countryman (countryperson, as well. How nice! Can't wait for one day to eat her kalam polo tahdig with a French twist.
Mr. & Mrs. Modaresi - I'm so glad you enjoy the blog. I certainly enjoy yours as well. It's always fun to see familiar events from a different perspective. And thank you for the early introduction to persian culture. It's served me well! I hope to see both of you again soon.
These are great photos! I wish I could have been there too. :( Saskia is definitely a great addition to our country folk. :) Her ash-e jo is as good as any old Persian woman's I have had.
